Cell preparations, as a new generation of biomedical materials, are cells with specific biological functions or therapeutic effects obtained through genetic engineering or chemical modification of cells. Although cell preparations have made significant progress, genetic engineering technology and traditional chemical modification methods are complex, time-consuming, and have the potential to damage cell functionality. In response to this scientific problem, and facing the treatment needs of several major diseases such as tumors and inflammatory diseases, Professor Wang Ruibing's team used supramolecular and macrocyclic molecular chemistry as tools, supramolecular biomaterials and biomedical engineering as goals, using bio-orthogonal multiple supramolecular interaction modifications to process and empower cells. They proposed the concept of supramolecular engineered cells and established a method for cell membrane supramolecular assembly to load functional materials to collaboratively treat related diseases. ; Proposed a strategy for intracellular supramolecular cross-linking and aggregation, and developed a pathway for supramolecular assembly and fusion of organelles to regulate cell functions for the delivery of hitchhiking drugs. ; A series of new cell preparations based on supramolecular assembly have been developed for targeted treatment of inflammation, infection, tumors and other diseases.
