On July 21, the 12th China Academic Conference on Gastrointestinal Surgery - "The First Jinfeng Young Scientists Forum·New Horizons in Gastrointestinal Surgery" hosted by Jinfeng Laboratory was held in Chongqing. The Chinese Academic Conference on Gastrointestinal Surgery is an academic event held every two years by the editorial board of the Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery and the Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Committee of the Chinese Association of Research Hospitals. It has now become an important academic exchange platform in the field of domestic digestive surgery. The first Jinfeng Young Scientists Forum, as a branch venue of the China Academic Conference on Digestive Surgery, aims to expand the exchange platform for young scientists in Chongqing, promote exchanges and cooperation between young scientists and enterprises and institutions, and promote the prosperity and development of science in Chongqing.

The first Jinfeng Young Scientists Forum focuses on the country's major strategic needs and people's lives and health. It invites Dong Jiahong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of Beijing Tsinghua Chang Gung Memorial Hospital affiliated to Tsinghua University, Bian Xiuwu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of the Pathology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Army Medical University, director of Jinfeng Laboratory and many other domestic experts. Top experts and scholars conducted discussions through special reports and other forms, covering liver transplantation for liver cancer, molecular classification and new treatment strategies for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), and exploration of clinically oriented liver cancer diagnosis and treatment strategies. It has established an academic exchange platform for special education, standardized treatment, and experience sharing for digestive surgery.

The relevant person in charge of Jinfeng Laboratory introduced at the forum that Jinfeng Laboratory focuses on major scientific issues in life and health and "stuck" technologies, with "next-generation diagnosis of major diseases" such as brain diseases and malignant tumors as its core mission, conducts original research, produces leading results, empowers industrial innovation, and creates an open, hub-type, and platform-type scientific and technological innovation place.

Since its official inauguration in June 2022, Jinfeng Laboratory’s first phase of 35,000 square meters of research and development space has been put into use, and the renovation progress of the second phase of 65,000 square meters of space has reached 70%. Domestic first-class research platforms such as the Smart Pathology Laboratory, Disease Phenomics Laboratory, Jinfeng·BGI Center for Spatiotemporalomics, Experimental Animal Center, and Single Cell Transcriptome Platform have been completed and put into operation. More than 270 scientific researchers of various types are in place, including 5 academician teams and 18 national-level talents.

“By formulating a task list, implementing an integrated design of basic research, applied basic research, and achievement transformation, conducting organized scientific research, and improving the efficiency of scientific and technological innovation, the laboratory has made landmark progress in original research on the pathogenesis of brain glioma and technological breakthroughs in smart pathological diagnosis of "stuck necks." ”The person in charge said that at present, Jinfeng Laboratory has also formulated methods for the introduction of scientific research talents.
