Focusing on innovation in diagnosis and treatment of pneumonia to explore a new chapter in infectious disease prevention and control The second Chinese Pneumonia Conference was successfully held
From May 16 to 18, 2025, the Second China Pneumonia Conference (CAPC 2025) was successfully held at the Chongqing Shancheng International Conference Center. This conference is co-organized by the China Medical Care International Exchange Promotion Association and the China-Japan Friendship Hospital (National Respiratory Disease Center), and hosted by the China Medical Promotion Association Clinical Microbiology Branch, Jinfeng Laboratory, Chongqing Medical Association, and Chongqing Medical Association. The conference was themed "Scientific Research Drives Innovation in Diagnosis and Treatment of Pneumonia". At the same time, the APEC New Fast Refast Infectious Disease Management and Health Emergency Capacity Building Forum was held. One main venue, 11 sub-venues, and 55 special seminars were set up to discuss pneumonia-related diagnosis and treatment from multiple angles and aspects, creating a unique academic event.
At the opening ceremony of the conference, Professor Cao Bin, Academician Wang Chen (video speech), Academician Bian Xiuwu and President Wang Xiaomin delivered welcome speeches, looking forward to the development blueprint in the field of pneumonia diagnosis and treatment and infectious disease prevention and control from different dimensions, and building industry consensus. The conference invited 124 well-known experts from all over the country to share cutting-edge academic achievements, attracting 1,815 representatives, including experts from the WHO Western Pacific Office and experts from the health department of APEC member countries, to attend the meeting.
During the special report session, Academician Bian Xiuwu, the First Affiliated Hospital of the Army Military Medical University, took the title of "Vascular Pathology of Infectious Diseases", started from the task of diagnostic pathology in the new era, and deeply analyzed the vascular pathology mechanism of infectious diseases, and revealed the core value of pathology under the new sudden outbreak of the epidemic. Professor Cao Bin of the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital focuses on "what is a quality diagnosis and treatment of pneumonia", innovatively proposes that "predictable outcomes" is the ultimate goal of the quality of pneumonia diagnosis and treatment, and emphasizes the importance of accurately grasping the development context of the disease and formulating scientific intervention strategies. Professor JIAN LI of Monash University in Australia (Li Jian) brought cutting-edge research on "Treatment of Gram-negative Superbacterial Respiratory Infection: PK/PD forgotten in the corner is the key", opening up the international horizons for the participants and injecting new academic thinking.
The academic exchanges at the sub-venues also showed frequent highlights. The experts at the meeting conducted in-depth discussions on cutting-edge fields such as pneumonia pathophysiology, viral pneumonia, pathogen diagnosis and differentiation, severe pneumonia and sepsis. The Pathology and Pathophysiology Branch hosted by Jinfeng Laboratory invited many well-known professors such as Ye Dan, Xia Yang, Liang Wenhua, and Wang Chengdi to share the latest research results and clinical experiences around multiple key areas of pneumonia and related diseases, contributing wisdom and strength to promote the high-quality development of my country's pneumonia prevention and control industry. I believe that with the continuous deepening of research and the continuous innovation of technology, more breakthroughs will be made in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pneumonia.
During the meeting, experts from the WHO Western Pacific Office and experts from the health departments of APEC member countries shared their experience in emergency response to public health emergencies, exchanged the latest progress in the prevention and control of respiratory infectious diseases, diagnosis and treatment strategies, and long-term health impacts, and discussed how to promote the international guidelines for respiratory infectious diseases from global guidance to ultimate implementation to national actions, and contribute diverse wisdom to the development of global public health.
Through multi-field collaboration, technological innovation and international cooperation, the conference not only promoted academic exchanges, but also promoted the correct concepts and technologies for pneumonia prevention and control, which will help improve the level of "promoting prevention, diagnosis, control and health" of pneumonia in my country, improve public health literacy, and help implement the Healthy China strategy.
