Lecture preview | professor huang xi: targeting brain cancer as a mechanosensitive disease
introduction to the keynote speakers
professor huang xi, canada research chair in cancer biophysics, senior scientist, department of developmental and stem cell biology, hospital for sick children, toronto, senior scientist, arthur and sonia labatt brain tumor research centre, toronto a tenured associate professor in the department of molecular genetics of the university, he was nominated as a new scholar of the royal society of canada and a fellow of the academy of artists and scientists in 2023.
as the project leader, professor huang xi has led a total of 33 research projects from the us and canadian governments or private foundations. in recent years, he has been the corresponding author in embo journal (2024), nature cancer (2023), neuron (2023), science advances (2023), pnas (2023), acs nano (2022), journal of experimental medicine (2020), neuron (2018) ) and other international journals.
lecture summary
professor huang xi will report that his team focuses on research on how brain tumors respond to and adapt to changes in the mechanical environment, especially how mechanical factors affect tumor growth and progression. by exploring the mechanisms by which mechanical forces influence the occurrence and development of brain tumors, professor huang's team revealed the key role of mechanical mechanics in the occurrence and development of brain tumors. related research results clarified how the mechanical environment regulates the characteristics of tumor cells, providing a basis for understanding the brain the mechanism of tumorigenesis and tumor heterogeneity provides a new theoretical basis and further provides a new direction for the precise diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors, especially in identifying molecular markers related to tumor mechanical properties and screening precise treatment targets. individualized prevention and treatment of tumors has laid a solid foundation.
